Foundation for Moral Law to Defend Evangelist at Trial on March 10, 2008, in Salem, Mass. for Publicly Preaching on Halloween
SALEM, Mass., March 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Foundation for Moral Law, a religious-liberties legal organization led by Judge Roy Moore, will be defending Michael Marcavage of Repent America, in a trial scheduled for March 10, 2008, against the charge of "disorderly conduct" brought against Mr. Marcavage for preaching in a Salem, Mass. public square on Halloween night, Oct. 31, 2007. Even though Salem's laws allow the use of speech amplification until 10:00 p.m., Salem police officers on Halloween night confiscated Mr. Marcavage's megaphone at 8:30 p.m., threw him to the ground, and arrested him on charges of allegedly violating the noise ordinance and "disorderly conduct"- -all for calmly preaching the gospel to a large crowd of Halloween revelers. See the video of Mr. Marcavage's arrest here. After the Foundation showed the local district attorney's office that the Salem noise ordinance statute allowed Mr. Marcavage to use the megaphone, the noise ordinance charge was dropped.

Because the district attorney's office is still insisting that Mr. Marcavage's preaching amounted to "disorderly conduct," however, Foundation attorney Ben DuPré will represent Mr. Marcavage at his March 10, 2008 trial in Salem District Court and will argue that his peaceful preaching of the Gospel was not disorderly or in any way illegal.

Attorney DuPré explained, "The city of Salem does not have the right to arrest Mr. Marcavage simply because his religious message is not welcomed there. The police should have been protecting Mr. Marcavage's right to speak instead of targeting him for the Christian content of his speech. Preaching the Gospel is not disorderly conduct, even on Halloween night."

RICHMOND, Virginia, Sept. 25 / Christian Newswire / -- Virginia Governor Tim Kaine is defending why his administration forced the sudden resignation of five Virginia State Police Chaplains because they prayed publicly “in Jesus’ name.” Police Superintendent Col. W. Steven Flaherty single-handedly created then enforced a strict “non-sectarian” prayer policy at all public gatherings, censoring and excluding Christian prayers, then accepted the resignation of five chaplains who refused to deny Jesus or violate their conscience by watering down their prayers.

House Republican Leader Morgan Griffith and Delegate Charles W. Carrico, (R-Grayson) both issued public statements defending the chaplains, questioning Governor Kaine’s role in terminating the chaplains, and vowing to introduce legislation protecting police chaplains’ right to pray according to their own conscience.

Defending Flaherty’s persecution of Christian Chaplains, Governor Kaine pretended he himself was being persecuted, saying through his spokesman: “It is disappointing that Del. Griffith would make such a political attack on Gov. Kaine about his faith.”

Former Navy Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt, who was also fired in 2007 for praying “in Jesus name” in uniform (but won the victory in the U.S. Congress for other military chaplains), weighed in:

“Governor Kaine campaigned like a Christian to get our votes. But now, instead of governing like a Christian, or respecting his own chaplains’ First Amendment rights, his administration forced the resignation of five police chaplains, simply because they prayed publicly ‘in Jesus’ name.’ These five chaplains lost their jobs for honoring Christ. I don't know how many of you know about the scams in this business as well as me, but in February, I decided to try Vonage.. I was excited to see that a cheap version was available for me to call about the Registry and other issues I like to find out about..

Well, instantly, the problems began.. my email was hacked, then the Blackberry rim problem, and finally my phone gets hooked up the emails return after 2 months of what to do.. and my whole life is somehow wound around a knot of scams.

Today, I solved it. the vonage part. I found out the place that was being the recipient of all my calls even has the number on their web page..bingo..I will not pay a cent for that service which was harrassing to say the least. And if any of you out there can imagine someone getting all your calls whom you called and caller ID picked up..would that bother you?? Stay tuned to the next chapter of Vonage versus J Aldrich.. maybe there is some money for this project afterall..

Today in Church the topic came up.. In God We Trust is on the chopping block..apparantly a poll was sent to the church to ask is they would take part..

Judiciary this week on Tuesday March 18 took up Cori bills and the room was full and the hearing lasted until 6..pm that is not too bad considering March 4 hearing was 10.50 min long.. Cori law needs to be changed..it is amazing what happens when a good thing goes to the wrong place..and this bill has put a fresh face on Cori. Cori is a good thing folks, and I really think Cori is essential when we have public people in jobs like Fire, Police, Emt's, and yes even Press that are dealing with personal stuff you don't want all to know..but then it is necessary. You need Cori but not when it slaps a 15 year sentence on someone who tries some evil thing but will never be a criminal yet gets a Cori to take him down permanently. this week on tuesday in judiciary committee they will be hearing bills again on sex offenders and even more on school sex with teachers ..this is a mess if you ask me..how can they relax the sex laws teach lower grades to change sex and not have kids acting out with teachers..it is not sensible to me and should not be given any respect ..stop teaching sex and sex will stop..in school..stop it..did you hear me stop it..
